1. Purpose of This Notice
The Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 ("PAIA") gives effect to the constitutional right of access to any information held by a private or public body, where that information is required for the exercise or protection of a right. This notice explains how G 1 Healthcare (Pty) Ltd ("G1 Healthcare") makes this right accessible.

G1 Healthcare has designated an Information Officer responsible for dealing with requests for access to information and for compliance with PAIA and POPIA.

4. PAIA Manual
Section 51 of PAIA requires every private body to compile a manual describing the categories of records it holds and the procedure for requesting access to them. The exemption that previously excused smaller private bodies lapsed on 1 January 2022.
Our manual is published in full at g1healthcare.co.za/paia/manual, free of charge. It is the operative document — this page is only a summary. A copy is also available by email from the Information Officer, and for inspection at our registered office.
5. Categories of Records Held
G1 Healthcare typically holds records in the following categories, some of which may be subject to access requests and some of which are exempt under PAIA:
- Customer order and account records
- Medical license and prescription verification records submitted by customers
- Financial and payment transaction records (processed via PayFast)
- Regulatory and product compliance records (SAHPRA registrations, ISO 10993 test reports)
- Corporate and statutory records (CIPC registration, Memorandum of Incorporation)
- Internal correspondence and business records
6. How to Submit a Request
A request for access to a record of a private body must be made on Form C, prescribed by regulation 10 of the PAIA Regulations in terms of Section 53(1) of PAIA, and submitted to our Information Officer by email or to our registered address. A request that is not made on the prescribed form may be refused. Your request must include:
- Sufficient detail to identify the record(s) requested
- The right you are seeking to exercise or protect, and why the record is required for that purpose
- Your preferred form of access and contact details
- Proof of identity
7. Fees
PAIA prescribes standard request and access fees, which may apply depending on the nature and volume of the records requested. Any applicable fees will be communicated to you before records are processed or released.
8. Response Timeframes
G1 Healthcare will respond to valid requests within the timeframes prescribed by PAIA (ordinarily within 30 days of receipt of a complete request, subject to any permitted extensions).
9. Grounds for Refusal
Certain records may be withheld in accordance with the grounds for refusal set out in Chapter 4 of Part 3 of PAIA, including records protected by legal privilege (Section 67), another person's personal information (Section 63), third-party or our own commercial information (Sections 64 and 68), and information supplied in confidence (Section 65). Access must nevertheless be granted where the public interest override in Section 70 applies — which weighs heavily where product safety is at stake.
Where a request is refused you will be given written reasons and the provisions relied on. There is no internal appeal against the decision of a private body. You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator under Section 77A, or apply to a court under Section 78, in each case within 180 days. A failure to respond within the prescribed period is regarded as a refusal.
10. Oversight
The Information Regulator of South Africa has oversight functions in respect of both PAIA and POPIA. General enquiries can be directed to the Information Regulator at www.inforegulator.org.za.
11. Related Policies
The full PAIA Manual sets out every subject and category of record we hold, the fee structure, and the grounds for refusal in detail.
